Really interesting piece. I liked the part about how our brain activity decreases with an activity the more skilled we get in it. I never thought about that but it makes a lot of sense. A good testament to keep challenging yourself in life learning new things.
Loved learning the linguistic differences! I remember seeing The Invisible Gorilla clip in college when I thought I'd wanted to be a psychologist (turns out, I do not) and being so proud I actually did think 'why tf is there a gorilla there'? Can confirm that my selective attention never really improved much haha
